A timeline of notable Japanese-style anonymous BBSes.

This timeline was created using various sources, some of which are listed at the bottom of the page. Accuracy intended, but not guaranteed.

Things to note

• vis.js Timeline often puts things wherever it feels like; don't assume that sites are related just because they're displayed on the same row, and don't assume that they're unrelated just because they're on different rows.
• This timeline is predominantly dedicated to the more notable anonymous BBSes. There have been many thousands more anonymous BBSes throughout history, and this timeline should not be used to determine how many BBSes existed at any given time.
